Batman (L) & Catwoman (R)

By Gilberto Campa

In anticipation for “The Batman” which will finally hit theaters on March 4th after two years of filming and delays, Warner Bros has put together a four city tour showcasing the new Batmobile along with costumes from the new film. As PCP’s resident Batman fanatic, this was an opportunity that I couldn’t pass up. The second to last stop for this exhibit is taking place today (02/22/2022) at Dolphin Mall in Miami, FL from 10am to 7pm and is absolutely free for everyone.

This version of the Batmobile unlike some of the other previous iterations is very raw and the most practical of them all. Combining brute force with high speed ferocity, this monstrosity of classic American muscle is amped up with a V8 engine, 700 horsepower and four-wheel drive, along with a transfer box that would allow Batman to switch from the front wheels to the rear wheels. Seeing this in person makes such an impression because you see just how much detail and work went into making this.

Fans also got to see the costumes for some of the characters in the movie as well that included Batman, Catwoman, The Penguin and The Riddler. Practicality is the main theme and idea behind these wonderful costumes, especially with the Batsuit as you can see just how crafty and “built from scratch” it is. Everything on the Batsuit is there for a reason, its tactical, military, purpose-driven while at the same time iconic as it is the new incarnation of Batman. This version of the Caped Crusader’s Batsuit is ideally what a Batman in his early days would put together to take on the Gotham underworld. On the opposite side the Riddler’s costume is all about leaving the least amount of evidence as every part from the arms, to the mask are all covered leaving no margin for error. Much of this version of the Riddler in this movie is inspired by the Zodiac Killer and this costume showcases that. Overall this is something that every Batman fan should get to see, so if you have the time check out this wonderful exhibit and experience it for yourself.
