Hey all – Steve here. Another week in the books and we had some unexpected outcomes in Week 6 that led to a bit of a shakeup in certain areas of the power rankings. Let’s get to it!
1.Seattle Seahawks – Hey, if you’re on a bye and at #1 you can’t move out of that spot. My column, my rules.
2. Kansas City Chiefs – They bounced back after that loss to the Raiders with a win over the Bills. The running game looked great in a bad weather game and they have even more help coming. The rich get richer.
3. Tennessee Titans – This team is just incredible. Derrick Henry is just insane and he is indeed King Henry. Ryan Tannehill has been a top 5 QB this season and the Titans are a well-oiled machine.
4. Pittsburgh Steelers – Just when we thought we would have an incredible Steelers/Browns game, the Steelers just showed how good they are and what a complete team they have.
5. Baltimore Ravens – The Ravens kept it moving with a win over the Eagles. The Ravens make it 4 of the top 5 for the AFC.
6. Green Bay Packers – The Packers cost me money on Sunday and I won’t forget that. I will forgive them and only drop them 4 spots in the rankings. They were exposed on both sides of the ball and not a good look for the team. Maybe there was a touch of complacency, but still no excuse for getting man-handled the way they did.
7. Buffalo Bills – I know they lost to the Chiefs, but it was the kind of game that could still elevate the level of confidence on a team showing you can hang with the elite.
8. New Orleans Saints – Brees looks to get things kick-started after the bye week. They will have around 3,000 fans in attendance and it will be interesting to see what kind of adjustments Brees makes coming off the bye.
9. Indianapolis Colts – It wasn’t pretty, but the Colts beat the Bengals on Sunday. It wasn’t a good game for the defense that had been looking like worldbeaters through 6 weeks. A win is a win, right?
10. Chicago Bears – The Bears are now 5-1. Through all my years doing this kind of work, I have nearly always been wrong about how their season was going to go. Can’t say that I thought very highly of them coming into 2020. Annnnd here we are.
11. Tampa Buccaneers – Ok, that was an impressive victory over the Packers. Nobody saw this coming and I even dropped the Bucs defense in my fantasy league because I didn’t want negative points!
12. Los Angeles Rams – Hey setbacks happen. The problem for the Rams is that it stops the latest round of momentum. They are still in pretty good shape moving forward this year.
13. Arizona Cardinals – How great did this offense look on Monday night? Their defense looked pretty damn good as well. This team is going to continue to get better and the Seahawks better keep an eye on their rearview mirror.
14. Las Vegas Raiders – They are back to being relatively healthy and their offense is dangerous when fully healthy. Still, it’s the Raiders so it’s difficult to imagine them doing too much. Until they prove me wrong, of course.
15. Cleveland Browns – Boy did the Steelers make the Browns look mediocre at best. Nothing was working for them and Mayfield’s ribs could be hurting more than he’s saying, but then again, “Mama didn’t raise no wuss”.
16. San Francisco 49ers – As bad as they looked against the Dolphins, they looked equally as good against the Rams. It was a big win for the team and Jimmy G.
17. Carolina Panthers – I can’t punish a team too much when going up against a brick wall of a defense in the Bears. While Mike Davis has done very well, the Panthers are waiting for a certain running back to make his return.
18. Miami Dolphins – When the hell was the last time that the Dolphins were ahead of the Patriots in a power ranking? This doesn’t make any sense. Well, they beat the Jets last week and then the clock struck Tua-time. This team is absolutely going to make some noise in the AFC East.
19. New England Patriots – The Patriots, and more specifically Cam Newton looked like pure 100% white hot garbage. Cam was missing guys by 4 yards and maybe he was still feeling the effects of Covid-19, but if this team wants to compete they need him at his best.
20. Dallas Cowboys – The Cowboys are a complete dumpster fire right now. Not only are they playing like shit, but they are also having clubhouse issues. Reports say that players are basically calling the coaching staff useless. It’s great for popcorn lovers. Good thing they are in the division they are in.
21. Cincinnati Bengals – Burrow and the boys would likely have beaten the Colts if not for a Joe Mixon injury. This team is not as bad as some thought they would be, but clearly they are not close to contending this season.
22. Philadelphia Eagles – The second-place team in the NFC East has 1 victory. This is getting embarrassing. The entire division has 5 victories in 24 games. It is hard to be this bad. Oh, and the Eagles lost their starting running back for the foreseeable future.
23. Denver Broncos – They were down their running back and tight end and they were still able to disrupt Cam Newton enough to get a victory over the Patriots. This defense will keep them in their games, but the offense just isn’t enough right now.
24. Detroit Lions – What else can be said about the Lions that hasn’t already been said? They beat the Jags last week and they will be that up and down inconsistent team throughout the remainder of the season.
25. Houston Texans – They played a hell of a game against the Titans and nearly came out on top. Deshaun Watson’s face when they lost the coin toss was pretty priceless. I mean, the Titans kind of cheated by using Derrick Henry.
26. Los Angeles Chargers – You know how the Chargers always start off slow and then start picking it up and making everything interesting? I don’t see it happening this season. It’s just not in the cards for them.
27. Jacksonville Jaguars – Losing to the Lions won’t do you any favors with the guy writing the power rankings. There are just those teams that can’t seem to get out of their own way and the Jags are one of them.
28. Minnesota Vikings – This offense couldn’t even find a way through the Falcons defense. Forgive me, I’m a little salty right now because I used my waiver wire pick on Mattison last week. 3 points. Appreciate it.
29. New York Giants – Well the Giants are on the board with a victory, and with that win find themselves right back in the hunt for the division. Yeah, I said it. A huge matchup (lol) awaits them on Thursday night football against the Eagles.
30. Atlanta Falcons – Screw you, Falcons. Shutting down Mattison like that and costing me fantasy points. It was nice to see Julio Jones make an appearance.
31. Team No Name – This team is a mess and they nearly beat the Giants. They got cute at the end. Not sure if I should thank them or be pissed at them.
32. New York Jets – Adam Gase is still around, everyone. Ladies and Gentlemen, the New York Jets.
