I’ve always found it difficult to review movies made for children. I’ve read some reviews and it leads me to believe that some of these critics out there think that these movies are made for them. They are in fact made for kids and parents must fall in line and sit through it and hope there is some entertainment value in it for them as well. Let’s get to the subject at hand – let’s talk The Boss Baby: Family Business!
Tim (James Marsden) is now a stay-at-home dad, helping to raise daughters Tabitha (Ariana Greenblatt) and little Tina (Amy Sedaris) with his wife, Carol (Eva Longoria). His brother, Ted (Alec Baldwin), is now successful and rich and of course, he would end up like that. Tina is eventually exposed as her true Baby Corp self, calling on her dad and Uncle Ted to reunite for a special mission that requires them to do what they do best. Offered a special formula that returns them to their younger selves for 48 hours, Ted and Tim are tasked with stopping an evil Dr. Erwin (Jeff Goldblum). By the way, Goldblum’s voice is always amazing to hear.
If you’re a fan of The Boss Baby either on the big or small screen, you know the trouble these kids are going to be getting themselves into. While I don’t believe The Boss Baby: Family Business offers a ton of entertainment value for us adults (I use that term loosely for myself), it provides plenty for its target audience. I watched this one with my 9-year-old son and he had plenty of fun with it. What did he do the day after we watched it? Yes, he watched it again! That’s a good sign for the kids in the audience. If you’re a so-called adult, make sure you’re not attempting to watch this one alone – that would be odd. All jokes aside, your kids are worth it.
