Hey all – Steve here. We’ve got ourselves a 2 game set against the Orioles at Citifield for the next couple of days. It’s the rare day game followed by a night game on a Tuesday/Wednesday and tomorrow is going to be some good theater at the stadium. Let’s get to it first with a look at the standings and things have changed following this 5 game winning streak for the red hot New York Mets.
Mets (16-13) vs Orioles (16-19)
Game 1
Marcus Stroman (3-3 2.12 ERA) vs John Means (4-0, 1.37 ERA)
John Means is fresh off of his no-hitter against the Mariners – a game in which he struck out 12 and walked 0. Stroman is coming off a loss against the Cardinals when he went 5 innings and gave up 2 earned runs, striking out 6 and walking just one. Take a look at the starting lineups for tonight:
Game 2
Taijuan Walker (2-1 2.38 ERA) vs Matt Harvey (3-2, 3.60 ERA)
Tomorrow afternoon, we welcome an old friend back to Queens and his name is Matt Harvey. It’s going to be very interesting to see the reaction at Citifield for him. My thought is that he will get an ovation with a smattering of boos and then he gets treated like the enemy he is for tomorrow. Walker has been one of the steals of the offseason so far and has been part 3 of the Mets 3-headed monster at the top of the rotation. Each of Walker’s 5 pitches has had an increased velocity in 2021 as he continues to build on a great end to 2020. Here are some stats for tomorrow:
Mets vs Harvey
Almora Jr – 4 AB .250 0 HR 0 RBI
Lindor – 4 AB .250 1 HR 2 RBI
Villar – 12 AB .250 1 HR 3 RBI
Orioles vs Walker
Team – 2 for 20 0 HR 0 RBI
