Love Hurts proves that love can truly be painful. This movie is packed with unexpected twists, intense action, over-the-top stunts, and constant humor. From start to finish, you’re never sure what’s coming next, and that’s what makes it so enjoyable. Ke Huy Quan shines as both a realtor and assassin, effortlessly blending these two roles with comedic flair. His performance lights up every scene, with impressive karate moves and witty dialogue. It’s an absolute blast to watch him in action, making this film a surprising but entertaining Valentine’s Day treat.

The supporting cast—Ariana DeBose, Marshawn Lynch, Daniel Wu, Sean Astin, and Cam Gigandet—adds even more energy, humor, and action, elevating the film to another level. The action scenes, though unexpectedly brutal, seem designed for both comedy and entertainment. While the stunts performed by the male characters are wildly unrealistic, their sheer originality makes the film stand out. Watching Ke Huy Quan in action feels like a mix of Jackie Chan’s agility and John Wick’s intensity—athletic, fearless, and fully embracing the film’s hard-R level of blood and violence.

The overall story was the only aspect that felt a bit off to me, mainly in terms of structure. It unfolds in an unusual way—some parts are left out at the beginning, sprinkled in during the middle, and fully revealed towards the end. At times, I found myself confused and asking questions, only for them to be answered later. Despite this, Ke Huy Quan delivers a fantastic performance, seamlessly transitioning between his past life as an assassin and his new role as a realtor. Coming off Everything Everywhere All at Once and Loki, he once again proves his incredible range, this time in a film that doesn’t rely on a multiversal theme.

All in all, Love Hurts is a wild ride packed with insane action, over-the-top stunts, and sharp humor—though some of the dialogue, especially between two specific characters, leans into the weird side, likely to highlight their evolving chemistry. It’s chaotic, brutal, and full of unexpected twists, delivering a full-throttle R-rated blend of comedy and action. While it may not be the typical Valentine’s Day film, it certainly tries to embrace the theme—perhaps just in the most unconventional way possible.
