Farace here. Portland, you’re getting PROJECT HAIL MARY, a movie where Ryan Gosling wakes up alone on a spaceship, realizes the sun is dying, and somehow ends up being the guy responsible for fixing it. No pressure. As his memory slowly comes back, he discovers he’s basically humanity’s last hope to solve a mysterious substance killing the sun and stop Earth from turning into a giant frozen rock. Along the way there’s science, problem solving, and an unexpected friendship that might just keep him sane while floating light-years from home. Honestly, Portland should feel comfortable with this — a city full of deep thinkers, coffee-fueled debates, and people who absolutely believe they could solve an extinction-level problem between sips of a single-origin pour-over. We’ve got advance screening passes for 3/17 at 7pm while supplies last, so grab yours before Portland holds a three-hour discussion about solar ethics and misses the movie entirely.
