Jason Statham does it again. While the storyline of A Working Man mirrors those of his other films, it stands out with even better action, a unique cast, and Statham effortlessly dominating every action scene. His tactics highlight his intelligence, and his speed is unmatched. Appearing to be just an ordinary construction worker to his coworkers, Statham is unexpectedly pulled into a mission to rescue a kidnapped girl and reunite her with her family—the very same family that once took him in when he was in need. Imagine witnessing the sharp strategy of Tom Cruise and the relentless action of John Wick—watching Jason Statham is like seeing both rolled into one, and it never gets old.

The supporting cast wasn’t exactly top-tier, but they held their own. A blind man, the Russian Mafia, and a few goons all in the same film wasn’t something I expected, and every time Jason Statham walked into a room full of enemies, it felt like a breeze for him. Whether he’s punching, tossing, or slicing his way through a fight, he makes every action scene look effortless—some even bloodier than others. He shows off his signature athleticism while effortlessly wielding any weapon he can get his hands on—and that, to me, is the mark of a true badass action star.

The film strikes a decent balance between humor and seriousness, knowing when to inject comedy into the dialogue and when to hold back. It also shows a clear understanding of which characters are best suited to deliver the laughs without disrupting the tone. Aside from his recent film The Beekeeper, another solid comparison would be Mechanic: Resurrection, where Statham is once again on a mission to save a woman—this time played by Jessica Alba—and bring her home after she’s taken hostage. I’m not entirely sure why he gravitates toward roles like these or why he excels in them so consistently, but one thing’s clear: these kinds of storylines bring out the best in him, giving him the perfect platform to prove why he’s one of the top action stars out there—and why he’s staying that way.
