Dallas and Houston, I’ve seen enough disappointment from the Cowboys and the Texans to know what it looks like when people don’t follow through. That’s not a problem in The Amateur, where a CIA code-cracker goes full vigilante after his wife is killed and his bosses decide to sit on their hands. Rami Malek ditches the keyboard for the field in this gritty, revenge-fueled thriller. It’s got espionage, explosions, and a guy who’s definitely not waiting for some bloated agency to get their act together—he is the act. I’m Farace, and if you want in on this early screening, you better grab your passes before they’re gone faster than playoff hopes in Texas.
