Hey all – Steve here. These injuries are going to be the death of me, the sky is falling, let’s bench Lindor, let’s bench McCann, let’s fire Rojas! Oh…the Mets are in first place? Got it. You wouldn’t know just by talking to some of you. Some of you are just too much with the “sky is falling” routine. The Mets have 371 players on the IL, yet you all believe that this is a team that should easily score 5+ runs a game? 3/5 of the rotation out? Bullpen games, relievers being worked every day, but still you say the sky is falling. Me? I say let’s get through this rough patch and be reasonably close to first place and GET THIS THING DONE! Ok, rant over (for now). Let’s get to the Rockies series. But first, the standings:

The Mets are 11-4 at home and the Rockies are 2-17 on the road.

Mets (21-19) vs Rockies (18-29)

Game 1

David Peterson (1-3 4.97 ERA) vs Austin Gomber (2-4, 4.96 ERA)

Peterson splits have been pretty crazy this year, but what matters here are his home starts. In his starts made at Citifield, Peterson is 1-1 3.95 ERA in 13 2/3 innings. Ready for another one? Righties are hitting .200 (22-110) against him and lefties are hitting .275 (12 for 32) against him. Gomber has had a good month of May as he has gone 1-1 with a 2.33 ERA and a .227 BAA. There are no current Rockies that have faced Peterson and the 3 Mets that have at-bats against Gomber (Lindor, McCann, Peraza) are a combined 2 for 12.

Game 2

Jacob deGrom (3-2 0.68 ERA) vs TBD

Shouldn’t the Rockies just forfeit this one? The key here is deGrom’s health and that seems to be all good heading into the return of the best in the business Tuesday night. Nothing much to say about this one. Take a look at the Rockies vs deGrom:

Game 3

Marcus Stroman (3-4 2.75 ERA) vs German Marquez (3-4 4.82 ERA)

Stroman has been great so far this year and deserves a better record than 3-4 with that ERA. I hope he has been able to quiet some of the fans down with the start that he’s had. This could be a very low-scoring game and not for the reason you think – it’s not that these two offenses are struggling (Mets due to injuries), but the active hitters on each side have not faired well against the opposing pitcher. Take a look:

Game 4

TBD vs Antonio Senzatela (1-4 5.01 ERA)

Class TBD action for the Mets on Thursday afternoon – yes, an early 12:10 pm start time for this one. Can’t go into too much detail as all of TBD’s details are, well…TBD. Here is how the Mets hitters have faired against Senzatela:
